Abstract Experiments
I have always admired the thinking as well as the artistry of David Hockney. I would love to experiment with painting and still continue to try but as a photographer my hands and brushes do not seem to seek a familiarity as do my hands and eyes using a camera. However, it doesn't stop there as like Hockney I am always wanting to experiment. Recently, I have taken to look extensively into my images and experiment with them using various digital software. I personally find them pleasing and get a lot of artistic pleasure from creating them.
MORE IMAGES ARE YET TO COME
In the meantime may I sincerely thank all those visitors to my website who have taken the time to contact me regarding my experimental images. I had no idea they would generate so much interest. Many have asked how I produce them but unfortunately there is no definitive recipe as I sometimes re-visit many parts of Photoshop and Nik software and only stop when I reach a moment with the image which I feel comfortable with. It is all very subjective, but thank you all again, keep the comments coming, it is very encouraging.
David Hockney always had a love hate relationship with the camera and photography, although he has made some beautiful photographic images and as I am attempting here, has on occasion turned them into experimental works of art.
I am inspired by some of David Hockney's comments:-
'But slowly I began to use cameras and then think about what it was that was going on. It took me a long time, I mean I actually played with cameras and photography for about 20 years'.
'I'm convinced that technology and art go together - and always have, for centuries'.
'I was always interested in photography because it makes a picture'.
'The way we see things is constantly changing. At the moment the way we see things has been left a lot to the camera. That shouldn't necessarily be'
'Photoshop came out of painting, and now it's going back to painting'.
'I'm interested in all kinds of pictures, however they are made, with cameras, with paint brushes, with computers, with anything'.
'I'm always excited by the unlikely, never by ordinary things'.
