The building houses the Yellow Submarine Studio of Pop-artist Annamaria Cimbal. When Annamaria is in residence the yellow submarine is moored with the ropes tied. When Annamaria is off-site the ropes get untied.
Burano is known for its small, brightly painted houses. The colors of the houses follow a specific system established many years ago. If someone wishes to paint their home, they must make a request to the local government; the government will specify the particular colours permitted for that lot.
