FIA Safety Car Issue at Silverstone's British Grand Prix

FIA Safety Car, Silverstone
A disappointing end to a classic British Grand Prix
A dramatic British Grand Prix ended in farce as FIA shot an own goal again. The decision to end the race behind a safety car, despite stewards who had already put out a message stating it would come in with one lap remaining thus leaving a final lap sprint to the finish, enraged fans and supporters, who responded with boos as Charles Leclerc led home George Russell and Sir Lewis Hamilton unchallenged passed the chequered flag behind the safety car.
The FIA, said the message had been displayed “erroneously”.
The rostrum celebrations carried on with spectators flooding the track. There were many discussions afterwards regarding the safety car issue.
This sort of action by the FIA does an awful lot of harm to the sport, but will they take any notice and correct their measures for the future? I personally very much doubt it.
The good news however, despite retiring with car issues 19 year old Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) still heads the driver's championship on points. Although I have always been a Mclaren supporter I really think young Kimi deserves to become a world champion, it is just what the sport needs.
